The UNLV Department of Art welcomes Christian Patterson to the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art on Thursday, October 4, 2018, 7 p.m. for the Fall Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

Christian Patterson was born in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and lives in New York, New York. Photographs are the heart of his work but they are often accompanied by drawings, paintings, objects, video or sound in both book and exhibition form. His books include Redheaded Peckerwood and Bottom of the Lake. Patterson is a 2013 Guggenheim Fellow and winner of the 2015 Vevey International Photography Award. He is represented by Rose Gallery in Santa Monica and Robert Morat in Berlin.

The UNLV Visiting Artist Lecture Series features a diverse array of some of the most compelling artists and thinkers working in the art world today. This important program brings both established and emerging artists to visit the campus and discuss their work in public lectures and to offer individual critiques to our BFA and MFA students. This program has established itself as an invaluable resource for UNLV students and the public alike. The primary mission of the UNLV Artist Lecture Series is to educate, inspire and foster a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through visual presentations and discourse.
