Visiting Artist: Hernan Bas

Sep. 1, 2016, 7pm to 9pm

Office/Remote Location

MSM 133 Barrick Museum Auditorium

The Department of Art and the Barrick Museum welcome artist Hernan Bas as a guest speaker of the 2016 UNLV Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

Detroit-based artist Hernan Bas paints figures in states of disquieting threat, bringing the overheated atmosphere of the nineteenth-century Decadents into contact with the mores of contemporary painting. Bas has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, the MODEM Center for Contemporary Art in Hungary, the Whitney Biennial, and the Busan Biennale in Korea. In 2007 and 2008 a major survey of his work appeared at the Rubell Family Collection, Miami, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Lectures take place every Thursday evening starting at 7 p.m. in the Barrick Museum Auditorium.
