Virtual Science Café Las Vegas: Josh Greenwood

Mar. 3, 2021, 7pm to 8pm

Office/Remote Location

Online (Zoom)

Jeffrey L. Ebersole, a post-doctoral scholar in the UNLV School of Life Sciences, will speak at an upcoming Virtual Science Café Las Vegas. His virtual presentation is titled, "Examining Desiccation Tolerance in Mosses: Or How Mosses Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Dryness."

Many mosses are able to dehydrate completely and survive when rehydrated. Greenwood will discuss major factors that determine whether a moss can survive in a desiccated state, including the life history phase (i.e. juvenile vs. adult etc.), collection location (i.e. is the moss from a desert vs. forest vs. city), and rate of drying (i.e. did they dry over an hour or a few days).

The virtual presentation will be presented via Zoom.
