The UNLV Department of Art is fortunate to work with UNLV's Black Mountain Institute on this special event.
UNLV Black Mountain Shearing Fellows Amy Kurzweil and Vi Khi Nao will share their visual and textual strategies as artists and writers, discussing the relationships they cultivate between word and image. Kurzweil's cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker and The Believer Magazine. Her book, Flying Couch: a graphic memoir, was a New York Times Editor's Choice. Vi Khi Nao is the author of the prize-winning books Sheep Machine, Umbilical Hospital, The Old Philosopher, A Brief Alphabet of Torture, and Fish in Exile. Her work includes poetry, fiction, film, and cross-genre collaboration.
If you are not enrolled in ART 291, and interested in attending this event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
