UNLV's World Class Pipe Organ Featured in Lecture-Recital

Feb. 19, 2023, 4pm to 5pm

Office/Remote Location

Dr. Arturo Rando-Grillot Recital Hall

Guest artist Dr. Russell Weismann presents a lecture-recital that celebrates the 116th birthday of Rudolf von Beckerath, founder of the Beckerath Orgelbau of Hamburg, Germany. The presentation will focus on the company’s nearly 75-year history of building world-class instruments. You will learn about Beckerath’s ideas of organ design and, through Dr. Weismann’s lecture and playing, how UNLV’s Maurine Jackson Smith Organ is based on and reflects those concepts.

To learn about UNLV's pipe organ, read our News Center Story: The Back Story: Maurine Jackson Smith Pipe Organ.

Visit Dr. Weismann's website for more information about him.
