UNLV SMILES Project Orientation & Device Pickup
Description
Strategic & Meaningful, Interactive Literacy Engagement Series: Engage with your K-5th Grade Child with Digital Literacy
How Does the SMILES Program Work?
Families receive up to three (3) iPads for each child aged 5-11 and one (1) iPad per caregiver in the household. Using your new iPads, families participate in monthly self-guided workshops and surveys.
Workshop Features
- A target literacy strategy,
- A digital tool or app,
- Guided support on the month’s literacy focus, and
- Breakout sessions by child development level.
Can I use the iPad between monthly sessions?
Absolutely! These tools are yours to use and keep. Between monthly sessions, your family can use the new resources and tools to engage in activities that blend concepts learned in the digital literacy space. Work together as a family to achieve built-in goals and win prizes.
You will also have the opportunity to build a Family Literacy Project to be showcased at our online community event in May 2024.
