UNLV GenCyber Camp is a cybersecurity summer camp for high school students in Southern Nevada. The goal of the program is to help students understand correct and safe on-line behavior and how they can be good digital citizens, and increase interest in cybersecurity careers. Each day, students will participate in multiple hands-on activities to learn about different topics in cybersecurity and hear interesting stories from cyber-security experts.
Topics Will Include:
- Cybersecurity concepts
- Encryption techniques
- Cybercrimes and protection
- Social and personal computer security
- Critical infrastructure protection
- Wireless and mobile security
All current high school students in Clark County are encouraged to apply. Participants must commit to attending all five days. Students will receive breakfast and lunch each day, in addition to a camp t-shirt, backpack and team prizes!
The camp is organized and managed by a team of diverse faculty, staff and student mentors led by UNLV GenCyber camp Director, Prof. Juyeon Jo and lead instructor Prof. Yoohwan Kim from the Computer Science department in the College of Engineering.
Please note: The camp will be following all COVID safety guidelines and requirements put forth by NSHE and UNLV at the time the camp is held. COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended to all attendees. All instructors and staff members will be fully vaccinated.
