Description
The College of Liberal Arts' University Forum lecture series presents The Tumultuous Road to the Constitution a talk by George William Van Cleve, Research Professor in Law and History, Seattle University School of Law.
For this year's UNLV Constitution Day Public Lecture, Professor George William Van Cleve will discuss the tumultuous road to the Constitution. In 1783, as the Revolutionary War ended, America's victorious Articles of Confederation government had majority support. Yet by 1787, the Confederation had collapsed, and the Philadelphia Convention proposed the creation of a dramatically more powerful government under the Constitution. Van Cleve will explain how and why that happened.
