Description
The College of Liberal Arts' University Forum Lecture Series presents "School’s Out: Gay and Lesbian Teachers in the Classroom" a talk by Catherine Connell, assistant professor, Boston University.
Gay and lesbian teachers are conflicted about how much of their sexual identity is appropriate in the classroom. Teachers, especially non-heterosexual teachers, are expected to be sexually neutral in their schools. Yet Gay Pride encourages being “out.” Professor Connell will examine how this clash influences these teachers’ experiences in their workplaces, communities, identities and lives.
