Description
The College of Liberal Arts dean's office and the Marjorie Barrick Museum welcome Michael Plyler, director, Zion Canyon Field Institute.
Mr. Plyler's slide-illustrated presentation will focus on the highland Maya of Guatemala and their exceptional accomplishments and cultural history prior to their collisions with European culture, their oppression at the hands of a series of right-wing dictators during the second half of the 20th century, and today's cultural erosion accelerated by their exposure to rampant consumerism and tourism.
