The College of Liberal Arts' University Forum lecture series presents The Grandest Walk: A 57 Day Traverse Below the Rim of the Grand Canyon a talk by Rich Rudow and Chris Atwood, 2012 Outside Magazine "Adventurer of the Year".

Before the fall of 2015, only 8 people had ever walked the length of the Grand Canyon in one continuous push. Why? To most people, this hike seems impossible.

In the fall of 2015, Rich Rudow, Dave Nally, and Chris Atwood set out to do the impossible and document the journey through photos. Kevin Fedarko and Peter McBride, doing a story for National Geographic on the threats facing the Grand Canyon, joined the team for the early part hike. Their account is now chronicled in the September 2016 issue of National Geographic Magazine. Rich Rudow and Chris Atwood will share their fascinating story of being immersed in the vast backcountry of the Grand Canyon for 57 days and tell us what they learned along the way.
