Trans Talk: Transgender Panel Discussion
Trans Talk is an annual program hosted by the Center for Social Justice (CSJ) that allows a safe space for UNLV students to learn about the experiences of individuals within the transgender community. This year the CSJ has partnered with the Center of Southern Nevada to organize a panel of trans-identified individuals to facilitate discussions around daily life, issues, misconceptions, and ways students can support gender inclusion and rights.
Some of the goals of the training include:
- Present clear, balanced and accurate information about the lives of transgender people.
- Educate participants on the discrimination and other issues transgender people face in our society
- Provide tools on how participants can support the transgender community and its efforts.
Transgender issues are complex, and new to many people. Therefore, it is imperative that participants understand that other participants will vary in levels of understanding of the topic. This event does not require any previous or advanced skills, knowledge or exposure of the topic to actively participate in the workshop.
This event is free and open to all UNLV students, faculty, and staff.
