Summer 2020 Research Boot Camp: Writing Abstracts
Conferences require presenters to write a short, paragraph-long description of their research. The abstract serves both as research synopsis and a cognitive heuristic to the audience. Abstracts can be written either retrospectively and prospectively. The letter is the approach taken when submitting your work for conference presentations. Acceptance into an academic conference or professional event is largely determined by the content found in the abstract. Thus, constructing a proper abstract is vital for research readiness. This workshop will discuss the contents of an abstract as well as strategies students can undertake to maximize the potential and outreach of their abstract.
Learning Objectives: By participating in this workshop you will:
Learn the contents of an abstract and how to draft a proper abstract
Understand how the contents of an abstract can influence acceptance to a professional conference
This workshop is free to all UNLV students.
