Stand With Standing Rock Donation Drive
The UNLV American Indian Alliance and Native American Student Association will be holding a supply drive for Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in support of their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. The Standing Rock Sioux is concerned that its waters would be contaminated and that its sacred sites will be desecrated by the Dakota Access Pipeline. The 1,172- mile Dakota Access Pipeline, or DAPL, which runs through North and South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois has a capacity to transport more than 500,000 barrels of oil a day and is planned to run under the Missouri River, the main water source for the Dakota tribes and only a mile north of the reservation.
The Standing Rock Sioux, along with over 100 tribal nations across the United States and Canada are preparing to continue the fight against DAPL which is expected to last throughout the winter. UNLV AIA and NASA are gathering supplies needed at the Standing Rock camps in support of their fight against DAPL.
Please check out the event page for the list of items needed. Please donate items of new or near-new condition.
This event is free and open to the public.
