Newer jurisdictions implementing sports betting into their casino environment face unique operating challenges. How do you successfully conceptualize, build, staff and operate a modern-day retail sports book? What role does mobile play in your overall product mix and what are the best practices for a successful mobile implementation? UNLV International Center for Gaming Regulation has the answers.

UNLV houses the only academic institute that has focused on the gaming industry for over 25 years. We are excited to again host the Retail and Mobile Sports Book Operations seminar. This program will include light breakfast, lunch, 4+ hours of classroom instruction, and transportation to a Las Vegas Sportsbook for a tour and Q&A with operators.

  • Trading: guest speaker Aaron Kessler – terminology, line generation and movement
  • Ways to Bet: OTC, kiosk and mobile
  • Mobile best practices
  • How to choose a successful mobile business model
  • Types of mobile vendors, partnerships, skins, etc.
  • Odds and Ends: promotions, internal controls, procedures, social media
  • Case Study: examining a current sports book implementation - key learnings and takeaways
  • Sports Book Tour: visit a Las Vegas sportsbook and meet with the operators for an in depth tour and Q&A on best practices for managing a successful sportsbook.

The program will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude following the sports book tour.

Transportation to Las Vegas and hotel stay are not included in the cost of registration.

Lead Educational Partner:

John Lukasik's career in sports wagering has ranged from being a Sports Wagering Product Manager with IGT to being the former Director of Race, Sports & Esports with Caesars Entertainment Corporation where he was responsible for operations of sportsbooks at the Linq, Cromwell and Flamingo Casino and Resorts. While managing the daily operations of these Sportsbooks including risk management and a staff of 40 employees, John also created the Esports, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Gaming at the Linq. On top of all this, John consistently teaches for the International Center for Gaming Regulation and in his spare time is completing his Phd. at UNLV.

Sports Wagering - Retail and Mobile Operations is open to anyone with an interest in the impact of legalized sports betting. Please register.

1. In the event a course is canceled, registrants will be notified as soon as possible and receive a full refund of their registration fee. 

2. A service fee of twenty percent (20%) will apply to all participant-initiated cancellations received seven or fewer days prior to the event.

3.  All cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing. Refunds granted for credit card charges will be credited to the original account charged. No refunds will be given in the event of “No Shows.” Refunds may take up to 3 weeks for processing.
