Come learn about the "My Culture Is Not A Costume" campaign started at Ohio University. Learn more about the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation, the impacts of stereotypes, and ways you can #KeepItPoppin this Halloween.
About SODA:
Students Organizing Diversity Activities (SODA) is a student programming council responsible for the planning and implementation of programs recognizing cultural , heritage, and awareness months (Latin@ Heritage, LGBTQ+ Pride, disAbility Awareness, Native American Heritage, Interfaith Awareness, Black History, Women's Herstory, Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage, Middle Eastern Heritage, Social Class Exploration, and Racially and Ethnically Mixed Awareness).
SODA members are given the opportunity to create new programming ideas for each celebratory month by collaborating with other Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), UNLV Departments, UNLV Faculty and Staff, etc. Become an official SODA member by:
- Requesting membership on Involvement Center,
- Attending a SODA social,
- Volunteering at a SODA event
- Attending a SODA event, AND
- Attending a SODA general meeting
