Science Café Las Vegas: Mo Weng
Mo Weng, an assistant professor in the UNLV School of Life Sciences, will speak at an upcoming Science Café Las Vegas. Her talk is titled, "How Mechanical Force Sculptures an Embryo."
Cellular activities are often viewed as chemical reactions within a cell however recent advances indicate that mechanical force, just like gene products and chemicals, also play an instructive role in regulating cell activities. Weng will demonstrate how mechanical force drive cell shape change and remodel cell-cell connections during embryogenesis, especially during epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process that is essential in both embryogenesis and cancer progression.
Come join others for a lively science discussion, delicious food, and fun. Come at 6:30 p.m. to order your food and mingle. Those under 21 are welcome.
