Professor George Djorgovski from the California Institute of Technology will be the featured speaker at the Russell Frank Astronomy Lecture Series. His talk is titled, "Exploring Space in Cyberspace: How Big Data Are Revolutionizing Astronomy."

Djorgovski will show how astronomy is changing in the era of the big data. Digital sky surveys are now generating Petabytes of data, measuring hundreds or thousands of attributes for billions of celestial sources – stars, galaxies, quasars, etc. We are seeing the rise of a new scientific methodology for data-rich, computationally enabled science in the 21st century.

This talk is intended for a general audience, including enthusiasts of all backgrounds and ages.
