Exploring Mars: Understanding the rock, soil, and potential for past habitability on another planet

Professor Libby Hausrath
UNLV Geoscience Department
NASA currently has two rovers active on Mars, Curiosity and Perseverance. Both rovers are sending back fascinating information about the geology of that planet. Perseverance is collecting samples for return to Earth. These samples will help assess signs of possible past life, and allow preparation for future human exploration. We will discuss; the data from both rovers, the Mars samples and plan for their return, as well as preparation for future human exploration.
