Russell and Brenda Frank Astronomy Virtual Lecture: Mario Livio

Oct. 8, 2020, 7pm to 8pm

Office/Remote Location

Virtual Event

Dr. Mario Livio will be the featured virtual speaker at the Russell and Brenda Frank Astronomy Lecture Series. The subject of the talk is his latest book, "Galileo and the Science Deniers."

A fresh biography of Galileo Galilei puts his scientific discoveries in context. Disturbed by contemporary science denial, Livio began researching the life and ideas of this brilliant man who encountered similar pressures centuries ago. His life story is filled with lessons relevant for today — whether with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, the efficacy of vaccines, or the teaching of creationist theories in schools. He will discuss a few of these topics in this talk.

This talk is intended for a general audience, including enthusiasts of all backgrounds and ages.
