Description

Join the Graduate College and host, Dr. Harsha Perera from the Department of Educational Psychology and Higher Education in the College of Education, for Rethinking Graduate Admissions, a presentation and panel discussion with professors Sang Eun Woo (Purdue University), James M. LeBreton (Pennsylvania State University), Melissa G. Keith (Bowling Green State University), and Louis Tay (Purdue University). The group will discuss their research on Bias, Fairness, and Validity in Graduate Admissions: A Psychometric Perspective. The research team explores the validity, bias, and fairness issues associated with several admission measures (grade point average, personal statements, resumes/CVs, letters of recommendation, interviews, and the Graduate Record Examination) and suggests steps to improve current admissions decisions. A discussion will follow the presentation. Faculty, staff, and students are all invited and encouraged to attend.
