The College of Liberal Arts’ University Forum Lecture Series presents “Real Southern Pride: The American South as Hurting and Healing for Black Queer Women.,” a talk by Jayme Canty, Visiting Assistant Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies, UNLV.

This talk will examine the ways in which black queer women perceive the American South as a multidimensional space incorporating both oppressions and healing. The objective of this talk is to explore the heterosexism black queer women face in the American South as well as the methods black queer women use to combat heterosexism experienced.
