"Preservation" special programming, a presentation by Peter Fend of Ocean Earth
Please join us at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art as Los Angeles curator Aurora Tang introduces a public presentation by Peter Fend of Ocean Earth. "Model Basin for a World in Danger" will be the closing event for "Preservation," on view at the Barrick Museum of Art through January 20, 2018.
Ocean Earth is a development corporation invented for a group of artists, co-founded in 1980 by artist Peter Fend, a key figure working at the intersection of art and ecosystems.
“Extreme instability, i.e., nonstop war, happens in and around the Middle East and North Africa, extending to far west China. Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Libya, Algeria, Sinai, Syria, Lake Chad, Somalia, Takla Makan, Aral Sea: all these places have one fact in common, not enough water. Something must be done."
This project is supported in part by a grant from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
