Description
A placement audition to determine technical ability and level is required for all dance majors. BFA Performance and Choreography degree candidates must attend placement and Performance and Choreography auditions on the same day.
Dance minors and non-majors should attend placement auditions if they are planning on taking majors level technique courses in ballet, modern, or jazz (DAN 132,135, 138 or higher). Students will be taught movement phrases in ballet, modern, and jazz by dance faculty and will be expected to demonstrate these movements.
Attire for placement is basic dance clothing, ballet shoes, jazz shoes, and/or non-slippery socks.
In consideration of the ongoing pandemic, masks are required while on campus and during the audition process. Social distancing measures have been implemented to ensure everyone’s safety and everyone is encouraged to wash their hands frequently. Extra face masks and hand sanitizer are also available in the dance office (HFA 110) as needed.
Please note that this Placements Audition could potentially conflict with ongoing new student orientations and UNLV admission events. Check the dates and times of your orientation / campus events prior to choosing a Placements Audition date accordingly.
