Description
Pathways and Journeys is new series is intended to serve the needs of UNLV students who require the most support within their college experience, by developing and fostering a space where resources, and academic faculty are visible through a “first generation” college participant lens. It represents an effort to celebrate the success of UNLV alumni, which specifically embrace critical ‘intersectional’ elements within the UNLV student experience. This effort links college preparation, access, and success to UNLV as a diverse, post-secondary institution.
The first speaker is UNLV Alum, Mr. Reuben D'Silva, III. A graduate of Yale and UNLV, and a decorated veteran of the military conflict in Iraq, Reuben D’Silva, III chose to return to his hometown of Las Vegas to teach high school in the community where he grew up. The Intersection is proud to welcome him to the UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art, where he will be the first speaker in their new Pathways & Journeys program, a series of public presentations that aim to inspire and empower the university’s diverse student body.
