How to Efficiently Write an Effective Professional Review

Academics are asked to evaluate a range of scholarly products and applications such as grant proposals, Tenure and Promotion files, and journal and book review manuscripts. The ability to provide professional and valuable reviews in a timely fashion is an essential academic service and yet there is very little training on how to efficiently prepare effective reviews. This workshop will outline the basic elements on how to structure a review, suggestions for creating a constructive narrative (for the evaluator and the applicant), and outline current best review practices.
