Organic + Homegrown Playwrights Festival
The Nevada Conservatory Theatre presents The Organic + Homegrown Playwrights Festival — a festival of new plays by and for local playwrights. Six plays will be presented, and each performance will be followed by an audience discussion that will become part of the play development process. Door prizes and a free community workshop are included. At last year's festival, three plays went on to full productions.

Fly Over Land (A musical in one act) - The WOMAN, a professional pianist, finds herself on a perilous airplane flight with PAIN after a failed surgery. When CHOPIN, her only escape from PAIN's tormenting manic antics and juvenile sense of humor, disappears, she is led into a world where psychology, religion, and medicine are set against the ineff able power of the arts. Mercutio and Benvolio - Tells the story of a relationship between the two Romeo and Juliet characters over the course ofShakespeare’s play. It’s also an exploration of gender diversity in a people largely forgotten when talking about the time period. By SamA. Murphy. #TransRolesForTransActors

Main Drag - An in demand wardrobe designer for pop-stars finds himself caught at the intersection of combustible 21st century issues where he is forced to confront racism, homophobia, fame, fear, narcissism, humility, love, and a Confederate flag. By Jason Aaron Goldberg

Mend A City: The Movement – “This is what happens when an undignified culture gets introduced to the barrel of a 12 gauge situation." Mend-A-City The Movement with its use of rhythm and prose boldly catapults its audience into an eclectic world of conscious spoken word and revolutionary thought. Speaking truth to power, it addresses many issues prevalent to all, and yet, ignored by many, blacks to whites and "gets in your face." By: Tabia Mawusi, Xulee, and Phillip J. Lightfoot

The Stars of Drazith - It’s 2013, and The Stars of Drazith is the world’s most popular MMORPG. When John Moore, deposed creator of the game, is hired to update the game’s graphic engine, hopes run high – until his graphic engine, hopes run high—until his changes wreck the game. Furious, and liable for millions in damages, John must discover which of his former friends and co-workers conned him into taking the fall, playing a real world game of secrets and betrayals. The Time Machine – A wicked retelling of the classic novel by HG Wells, an inventor escapes his past to discover a modern dystopia where machines are nonexistent and love is forbidden. Extraordinary events force him to venture underground where he must face the demons that control his future. By David Mauk and Brenda Mandabach
