Description

Music by Giuseppe Verdi
Libretto by Francisco Maria Piave

With some of the world’s most beautiful and well-known music, La Traviata—one of the most popular operas in the classic repertoire, receiving hundreds of performances every season worldwide—is the story of a tragic love and the hypocrisy of upper-class fashionable society.

Alfredo loves Violetta, the courtesan deeply, but their relationship brings shame upon his family, so Alfredo's father directly appeals to Violetta to relinquish her only chance at happiness. Ultimately, she submits, and her act of self-sacrifice leads to her paying the ultimate price. Who can resist the heart-tugging story of Violetta, "Lady of the Camellias?" You will laugh, love, and weep along with here. Tissues not provided.

Celebrated soprano Cecilia Violetta Lopez—one of opera's 25 rising stars (Opera News)—returns to Opera Las Vegas in the signature role  of Violetta. Her performances of the role have garnered widespread acclaim.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles
