Opera Las Vegas: Carmen
Riding the crest of its 2015 success with Madama Butterfly, Opera Las Vegas has announced Bizet’s torrid and tempestuous Carmen as its 2016 opera production. Metropolitan Opera stars, who will once again headline the cast, will be joined by talented local artists to create an exciting performance. Maestro Greg Buchalter of the Metropolitan Opera will return as artistic director and conductor.
From 1 to 1:30 p.m., Jim Sohre, Artistic Director of Opera Las Vegas, presents an opera preview of Carmen with insights into the world's most popular opera and composer with musical examples.
Carmen will be performed in French. English subtitles will be provided.
