Online Teaching Essentials

This course is designed to help prepare faculty to work effectively with learners in online environments. The essentials of what to know and do before, during, concluding and after the course are explored. The Community of Inquiry (CoI) and Universal Design of Learning (UDL) frameworks are included as particularly applicable to online learners and their learning environment.  Each course is limited to 20 faculty members to ensure an active learning experience.

By the end of this 4-week asynchronous course, faculty will be able to:

  • Adopt essential practices before, during, and after a course that optimize learning in online environments
  • Incorporate Community of Inquiry theoretical framework and Universal Design for Learning that recognize individual and group learning needs in online courses
  • Pursue additional resources through UNLV and beyond to continue development as an online instructor
