Online Teaching Essentials

This online course is designed to help prepare teachers to work effectively with learners in online environments. The essentials of what to know and do before, during, concluding and after the course are explored. The Community of Inquiry (CoI) and Universal Design of Learning (UDL) frameworks are included as particularly applicable to online learners and their learning environment.

This course is taken online.

Course length: 4 weeks

Course participation time effort: 12 hours

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Adopt essential practices before, during, and after the course that optimize learning in online environments.
  2. Incorporate CoI and UDL principles that recognize individual and group learning needs in online courses.
  3. Pursue additional resources through UNLV and beyond to continue development as an online teacher.

Course completion: all those who complete the course will receive an Online Teaching Essentials completion certificate from the UNLV Office of Online Education.
