In spring 2015, a team of UNLV researchers and students led by Professor Paul Oh, Lincy Professor for Unmanned Aerial Systems in the mechanical engineering department in the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering, competed in the international DARPA robotics challenge, placing eighth in the world. “Rise of the Robots” follows the engineers and teams of DARPA as their robots compete in real-world challenges designed to eventually have robots replace humans in disaster relief situations. The program investigates the cutting-edge technologies that are advancing robotics as never before … and the enormous challenges that the robots still face.
