The Nevada State High School Class of 2017 graduates!
About Nevada State High School
In the summer of 2003, the founding members of Nevada State High School wanted to provide motivated high school students with a choice in their education. This choice would give students the opportunity to attend real college classes with the support of the school, which would help them transition from high school to the college environment.
The school was developed as a small school concept that directly linked expectations to performance. To accomplish this, NSHS has an established structure, college readiness curriculum, monitoring process, and reporting system that keeps parents informed and students engaged in their own learning. The school provides extra supports, tutoring, and mentoring for students in their college classes. The students have the flexibility to select their own course schedules, and they have the ability to graduate from high school with up to two years of college with experience and credit.
The school’s financial plan maximizes the use of public dollars to pay for two years of college tuition, fees, and help with college textbooks. Students also save time by getting a jump start on their career choices.
The founding members of Nevada State High School would like to recognize the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and their efforts and research to the early college initiative.
