Description
For new college graduates, career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce and is the foundation upon which a successful career is launched. Career readiness is, quite simply, the new career currency as employers seek candidates who demonstrate transferable key skills and abilities. Specifically, the top soft skills employers seek are interpersonal skills like teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism; but also critical thinking skills like conflict resolution, creative problem solving, and strategic planning. The National Association of Colleges and Employers, also known as NACE, indicate eight career readiness competencies, each of which can be demonstrated in a variety of ways: Career & Self-Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork, and Technology. By participating in this workshop you will:
- Learn about NACE 8 career competencies and how you can develop them
- Identify which competencies are your strengths and which require development
- Consider which transferable skills are most relevant to your field of study and future industry
