Media Innovation Hackathon Meet-and-Greet Info Session
If you're interested in participating in the UNLV/Beasley Media Hackathon but aren't sure where to start, join us for a brief meet-and-greet event this Thursday, October 25! Students interested in participating in the hackathon can connect with faculty mentors or other students to form a team and learn more about this competition. Students who are interested in the hackathon but want help developing a project idea are encouraged to attend. Faculty interested in mentoring student groups are also encouraged to attend.
Registration is requested but not required to attend this event.
Hackathon General Information:
Beasley Media Group and UNLV are collaborating to offer students the opportunity to innovate in the media space through a hackathon.
The focus of the hackathon is the generation of commercially viable products and services that utilize existing media technology, data, and infrastructure, as well as ideation of cutting edge, transformative, and disruptive technologies that will become mainstream in the next 20 years. Areas include, but are not limited to:
- How does media fit into smart cities (for example, smart cities gather data from multiple points, from cars, video cameras, etc. How does media play into this data collection or dissemination)
- Alternative uses for AM and FM frequencies
- Media innovations of the future (How does media interact with the customer. For example, app development and gamification of media, use of VR in media consumption, etc.)
If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Research by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone at (702) 895-2367.
