In the first of our spring 2021 series of livestreamed student performances, Live from the UNLV Performing Arts Center presents pianist Xiangsheng "Johnson" Qu, a graduate student in the school of Music, pursuing a doctoral degree in musical arts under the tutelage of Professor Mykola Suk. 

Qu has been an active performer around the valley since coming to Las Vegas, and his repertoire ranges from Baroque to Jazz. He graduated from SCCM (Sichuan Conservatory of Music) in 2011, majoring music performance. In 2014, he received a master’s degree of musicology from SCCM, and in 2018, he received dual master’s degrees in jazz and piano performance from the University of New Orleans. Qu will perform works by Nikolai Kapustin, Russian composer and pianist.
