Join the University Libraries & U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto for a news event to officially launch the Latinx Voices of Southern Nevada project.

Latinx Voices is an oral history and community engagement project to collect the diverse history of the Latinx communities of Las Vegas and surrounding areas. The project will expand the diversity of the voices preserved by the University Libraries Special Collections and Archives, involve students in connecting with the community, and engage multiple generations in reflecting on the lives and experiences of the region’s Latinx residents.

Sen. Cortez Masto was the first Southern Nevada resident to donate an oral history to the project and will discuss why the project is important to preserving the history of Nevada.

The project has been supported by a $100,000 National Endowment for the Humanities Match Grant, $50,000 grant from the Las Vegas Centennial Commission, $25,000 from MGM Resorts International, and individual community and UNLV alumni gifts.
