When

Oct. 6, 2022, 9am to 10:30am

Office/Remote Location

Conference Room 101

Description

Presenter: Dr. Chris L. Heavey, Executive Vice President and Provost

Leadership fundamentally involves the alignment of human activity, and therefore communication is the primary tool of a leader.  During this discussion, Executive Vice President and Provost Chris Heavey will share what he has learned from his work as a leader and psychologist about both the potential and the challenges of communication. Part of that will involve discussing how emotions and emotion regulation come into play in communication, especially in leadership situations. To understand the interplay of these factors in the challenging real-time situations that lie at the heart of leadership, one needs an honest and accurate understanding of themselves, including strengths and weaknesses.
