Answering a conference's call for papers requires writing an abstract or summary of what your talk is going to be about, and it's not an easy task! How do you boil down your scholarly work to 250 or 300 words? In this workshop, we'll share a plan for pitching your research at almost anything and share sample abstracts as well as criteria used by conference selection committees.

By participating in this workshop you will:

• Participants will consider broad guidelines for writing an effective conference proposal
• Participants will examine various abstracts and identify how effective they are
• Participants will analyze rubrics used by selection committees for different
  conferences and consider how to tailor their own proposals to the criteria
