For most people, buying and owning a home is the biggest financial decision they will ever make. Yet many people do not know the steps and pitfalls of buying and owning a home. Not knowing can cause anxiety and stress during a process that should be exciting and rewarding. Learn how to navigate home buying and homeownership skillfully and smoothly by attending this workshop. The information presented will be valuable for you, whether you are thinking about buying your first home or you already own a home. By participating in this workshop you will:

  • Consider the benefits and drawbacks of renting vs. owning a home
  • Learn whether a home is an asset or liability
  • Think critically about whether you want to rent or buy a home
  • Consider where and when to buy a home
  • Learn the steps of home buying: finding a home, qualifying for a mortgage, going under contract and negotiating the price, getting a home appraised, and closing on a home
  • Weigh the costs, responsibilities, and rewards of owning a home
