Graduate Advisory Committees (GAC’s) are mandatory for master’s theses, professional doctoral projects, and doctoral dissertations. Graduate Advisory Committees are responsible for guiding a student through a graduate program; assisting the student with their scholarly/creative/academic projects; and overall they serve to train, support, socialize, and educate graduate students. Not all graduate degree programs require the appointment of an advisory committee but being sure that your fits your academic interests and needs is important for success. Join us to learn more about Graduate Advisory committees, how to select members and how to navigate potential issues!
By participating in this workshop you will:
- Understand the fundamentals of the Graduate Advisory Committees (GAC’s)
- Understand the work of committee members
- Learn strategies for selecting members
