The geoscience department weekly seminar presents:

Speaker: Dr. Estella Atekwana

Topic: Geophysical Imaging of Microbial Hotspots

Dr. Estella A. Atekwana is Dean of the College of Letters and Science and Professor of Earth & Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Davis. Atekwana is internationally recognized for her pioneering and interdisciplinary work on biogeophysics which has won numerous best paper awards at international conferences. Her biogeophysics research investigates geophysical signatures of microbial-rock interactions. Atekwana is also known for her contributions to East African Rift tectonics. Here, she investigates the geodynamic processes of continental rift initiation. She is also interested in Geosustainability and the role of geosciences in the energy transition. To this end, she led the effort to establish a Climate Scholars Program, a Climate Change Science and Policy Hub and Eco Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Delaware
