Office/Remote Location
Description
As one of the most diverse institutions in the nation, UNLV has a unique responsibility to ensure inclusive spaces and learning environments. Diversity is not limited to race, gender, or ethnicity-- it also includes age, ableism, veteran status, sexual orientation, sexual preference, and many more salient aspects that make up individual identity. This workshop is aimed at unpacking the ways in which instructors can create inclusive learning environments- as well as being intentional with their strategies and approaches to teaching and learning. This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of strategies they may consider adopting in their classrooms and lead a discussion around the goals of an inclusive classroom.
By participating in this workshop you will:
- Discuss what it means to cultivate inclusive learning spaces
- Learn how to implement inclusive language and practices in your syllabus, class climate, and overall teaching practices
