Description
Join us for an evening with Caldecott Award, winning author/illustrator Javaka Steptoe and Clark County's Poet Laureate Vogue Robinson at the annual Gayle A. Zeiter Children's & Young Adult Literature Conference.
The Gayle A. Zeiter Literacy Development Center, Southern Nevada Writing Project and the Lied Library are pleased to host this years Gayle A. Zeiter Conference. The mission of the Zeiter conference is to engage teachers, librarians, budding authors and illustrators, university faculty and students of all ages, in an evening of exploration and engagement with renowned Children's and Young Adult authors.
This years conference features a keynote by Javaka Steptoe titled The Value of Imperfect Heroes. Javaka's presentation will focus on the richness of life lessons to be learned in exploring the imperfect heroes and why they can be presented as role models for our students.
As a special edition to the conference this year, Clark County's Poet Laureate Vogue Robinson will share some of her incredible poetry.
Break out sessions and round tables will provide opportunities to learn ways to share and teach with children’s and young adult literature; explore diverse topics in literature; and learn more about fostering writing in the classroom.
We look forward to a wonderful evening at this years Gayle A. Zeiter Children's and Young Adult Literature Conference.
