This little-known trail over Tertiary basaltic lava flows, will take you to the summit of Fortification Hill – an extinct volcano. See if you can identify Creosote Bush, White Bursage, Broom Snakeweed and Burrobrush. Scramble up to the summit, eat lunch perched on a rock that overlooks the Lake Mead Recreational Area, Hoover Dam, and the Las Vegas Valley below.
