Meet the finalists and help celebrate the winners of the Black Mountain Institute’s First Generation Essay Contest.  Writers will read their essays and provide feedback on what the writing process was like.  Contest winners will get the opportunity to publish their essays, and be awarded cash prizes for their work. Google Meets

Meet Dr. Juanita Fain, Vice President of Student Affairs!  Join Ms. Keren Jean-Charles, TIPS Partner, as she interviews Dr. Fain, to get a first generation student’s perspective on a first-generation alumni’s academic and  professional journey. View on YouTube

First-generation faculty and students face many of the same challenges including being unfamiliar with the new environment, difficulty accessing resources, and making networking connections for collaborative opportunities. The Intersection helps new faculty and students acclimate to our campus.
