Description

The somber nature of becoming incapacitated or passing away causes many people to feel uncomfortable and sad. These feelings keep people from planning how their estate (i.e., assets) will be managed once they cannot manage it themselves, and delay putting documents in place that will facilitate the ability of a loved one to act on their behalf if they are ever incapacitated, provide for the care of minor children, and allow for smooth transfer of assets to beneficiaries once they pass away.  The process of establishing these documents that speak for you when you can no longer speak for yourself is called “estate planning.” This process is important because it eases uncertainty about what will happen when you are gone or unable to act for yourself and provides a roadmap for the loved ones you leave behind.  Estate planning is not just for the super-wealthy or old, it is for everyone, and can be crafted to fit your specific situation and goals.   That being said, the estate planning process can be confusing and intimidating. Attend this workshop to learn the basics of estate planning and the options for creating your own personal estate plan! By participating in this workshop you will:
