Distinguished White Lecture, Wonderful World of Phages
When

Description
Please join the School of Life Sciences for the 2020 Distinguished White Lecture, presenting Graham Hatfull, Eberly Family Professor of Biotechnology, Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor.
Phages are viruses that infect bacteria. Their ancestry is ancient and they are the most numerous biological entities in the biosphere. These viruses are of considerable genetic and technological utility, including therapeutic potential for treating highly antibiotic-resistant mycobacterial infections. The isolation and characterization of phages is also the focus of a large, integrated research-education initiative centered on discovery-based undergraduate research.
A reception follows the lecture.
