Department of Geoscience 9th Annual GeoSymposium

The annual GeoSymposium event provides students from the department of geoscience with a valuable opportunity to professionally present their research in a supportive environment. This allows for professionals and experts in the field of geoscience to give guidance and feedback, which is highly valued by our students who strive for future careers in geoscience and related fields.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear keynote addresses from both Dr. Timothy Beach, Georgetown University and Paul Dobak, Barrick Gold. Throughout the day, graduate and undergraduate students will present their research through oral and poster presentations, followed by an afternoon award ceremony recognizing students for their research and academic achievements. The day will conclude with a silent auction of rock and mineral specimens, and other geoscience-related items. The event will then culminate on Saturday, April 19, with a student-hosted field trip to Valley of Fire State Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Admission Information

Thanks to the generosity of supporters of past GeoSymposiums, it has been possible to continue running the event without a registration fee. If you would like to attend, visit the geoscience website for instructions.
