Cover letters are important because they give you the opportunity to add details about information mentioned on your resume. They also allow recruiters to differentiate between two candidates with similar qualifications. Writing a terrific cover letter can set you apart so you should definitely include one.  However, there may be times when they simply aren't needed.

Presenter: Maria Ubaldo, Las Vegas Valley Water District

Maria Ubaldo is on a mission to help job seekers match their skills, education, interests, and values with career opportunities that serve a purpose and a mission! As an experienced Recruiter while also trained in communications, marketing, business, and education, her commitment to career development spans across various disciplines.

Maria’s passion for early career development has led her to manage a student ambassador program in a local community college where she created professional training programs for students to help in their job search while in school and after graduation. Now, she spearheads the Internship & Work Study program at the Las Vegas Valley Water District, while coordinating community engagement and outreach efforts for the organization. Currently, she recruits the best talents for the District as a Human Resources Analyst.

As a Rebel herself who occasionally teaches TESL courses part-time at UNLV’s College of Education, Maria hopes to connect with as many UNLV students and graduates and provide them with opportunities that will help them build a lasting professional network and experience.
